Learning Through Her Eyes

For the past 10 months, I have been so incredibly lucky to be a mom to an amazing baby girl! Leila "the monster" gives Matt and I fulfillment in our lives.
I wake up every morning excited to see her smiling face, screaming da-da. Everyday brings something new. I love learning through Leila's eyes.

Today we took Leila to a local park. She had a blast swinging on the swings and babbling to the other kids. Something as simple as swinging on the swings, brings new meaning when you are a parent.

Being a mother is truly the BEST and most awarding job. Even though there are hard moments, it is worth every minute!

As we approach Leila's first birthday, I look forward to sharing all those special moments with Leila and Matt!

It seems like it was yesterday

Today Leila had her 9 month checkup! It seems like yesterday she was growing in my belly...

A year ago, Matt and I were planning and eagerly waiting for Leila to join our family.

On Thursday April 14th, we went to our post due date appointment thinking we would have at least another weekend of waiting....

Never in our wildest dreams did we think Leila and Daddy would share something so special....

Daddy and her share the SAME birthday!

Flash forward 9 months....

Leila is crawling, waving, clapping, screaming, dancing, and of course saying, singing, and yelling her favorite word...da-da!

I am truly blessed!

Waiting on Baby Regan

We have officially hit our due date and now it’s a waiting game.  Baby Regan has been stubborn or should I say shy.  Every morning, I wake up and ask myself, is today the day that I get to meet this little nugget I have been carrying for 9 months?  I feel like I have done everything in my power to make her come, yes I know there are no scientific studies, but still I had to try, bouncing on the yoga ball, eating spicy food, taking long walks, relaxing, and as of an hour ago black licorice.  She just wants to nest a little bit longer I guess.

Thursday, Matt and I will be going to get an ultrasound and stress test done to make sure baby is still a happy camper.  I hope at this point they will at least schedule an induction date so I can have a date!  She seems to be happy to me, still kicking at all hours.  When Matt puts his hand on my belly she seems to really respond to his touch.  Last night, while watching TV, Matt and her were poking each other back and forth.  Matt was hoping to make her frustrated and want to come out J  I thought it was amusing until she kicked me in the ribs extremely hard.

With Matt working this different schedule and me on spring break, I am having a hard time finding things to keep me occupied.  I have already organized, mowed the lawn, cleaned the house, and baked.  I had a random, but fun idea to make some headbands for her first photo shoot.  Here is what I have made so far!  Sad thing is I thought it would take more than 20 minutes.  Now, I am back to square one looking for things to keep me occupied.

We will keep everyone updated…hopefully soon, who knows maybe today is the day J

One Year

One year ago, I walked down the aisle and said two very special and life changing words to the man that I love!  This past year has had its fill of excitements and surprises.  Matt and I moved into a home in late May and made it our own.  We had dreams of staying here and renting for a few years until we were ready to start a family.  We painted EVERY room, did landscaping, refinished the hardwood floors, tiled the kitchen floor….the list goes on and on.  But as life usually goes, our “dreams” were going to take a different route.   After a hot and DRY summer, we were surprised to find out that we were expecting.  God definitely had other plans for us J
Throughout the pregnancy, as we reached another month of being “newly” weds, it was our joke that I we were married for 3 months and already pregnant.  Today I have officially been a Regan for 1 year (and it is AWESOME) and I could go into labor any day, 12 months married and 9 months pregnant!  Matt and I are prepared, well the best two new parents can be.  I have diapers galore and baby stuff in EVERY room.  I don’t think either one of us had anticipated just how much stuff one little nugget would need.  Our families have been so supportive and giving.  We had three beautiful showers that were filled with love and gifts.  Baby Regan is one spoiled little girl.
In August, I will go back to work.  Baby Regan will be spending three days a week at Grandma and Grandpa Regan’s house, while Matt and I are at work.  To be closer to Grandma and Grandpa, we will need to move across the river.  It seems like once again, Matt and I will be out on the hunt for some where to call home.  I guess we will just have to find a new one to make our own J

Hello Third Trimester

So here we are entering into the last trimester.  Matt and I are extremely excited as we approach our due date (4-11-11).  The nursery is coming along and looking super cute!  I have to admit I turn on her little night light every night :)

I had my monthly check up today and everything looks and sounds great.  Little Regan's heart rate was 140. Mommy thought it would be a little higher considering she likes to roll around at all hours of the day :)

On another note, Matt recently got a promotion!!   I am so proud of him, he deserves it.  He has taken on a new shift and responsibilities.  We are working opposite schedules at the moment, but once little miss Regan makes her debut, it'll work out well ;).

I’ll be posting some pictures of the nursery soon.

For the past few years, I have followed my older sister’s blog.  I have to admit, it’s a favorite bookmark site I check daily.   She lives over 500 miles away from me and it’s hard to visit with our busy schedules.  She has three beautiful children and a loving husband.  Through her blogs I am able to follow what is going on in their lives.  It honestly feels like I am experiencing some of the activities with them through the various photos.  I admire her creativity and the time she takes to share her life with her family miles away.

Sam and I at my wedding

I remember 2 days after Matt and I got married, saying to Matt, we can make a blog now!!  I have looked up to Sam since we were little girls and I was so excited to make a blog like hers.  Matt and I spent some time designing a blog and I was eager to get it up and running.  Our busy schedules got a hold of us and before we knew it, the blog was in the past.
I am currently on winter break from teaching, and today I was trying to figure out what to do with all this “time” I am not used to having.  I tried logging on to the blog Matt and I once started and realized I couldn’t even remember my password.
I have started over today and want to start “fresh”.  We have about 4 months left, 118 days not like I am counting, before our little nugget comes.  I want to share the kicks, pics, and planning with my family!

Hopefully, it’s close to yours, Sam.  Love ya sis!
